Our History
Remkes The Poultry Family is a family business with a rich history dating back to 1928. Founder G.P. Remkes started slaughtering chickens in a house on Spoorlaan in Epe. Over the years, Remkes has continued to invest in craftsmanship, innovation, and sustainable growth. What began as a local enterprise grew into an established name in the poultry sector thanks to hard work, entrepreneurship, and passion for poultry. In the 1960s, the company moved to Kweekweg in Epe, where it further expanded its activities. Over the decades, multiple renovations and expansions were carried out to meet growing demand and technological developments. In 2013, a new packaging and filleting department was opened, followed by the construction of Remkes Food Products and Remkes Coldstore in 2021. Today, the company is led by the third generation, under the leadership of Bart Remkes.

“As a ten, eleven-year-old boy, I took my first steps in my father’s and uncle’s family business. Even then, I was fascinated by everything that happened in the slaughterhouse.
I was often found there after school, and that’s how I got to know the trade inside and out. In those years, my passion for our business was born. My father made it clear to me early on how important quality is. ‘That’s what you’ll always be judged on,’ he said. I’ll never forget those words; they’ve become our motto.”
